Over the past nine years, I have introduced only three chairs, all of which I later removed from the collection because they were either too heavy or not comfortable enough. I have never wanted to keep a chair in the collection simply because it looked good.

For me, a chair is one of the most complex pieces of furniture to design. Every detail—its proportions, weight, seat height, depth and balance—affects how it feels. We spent almost a year developing and refining the Fundament Dining Chair before arriving at a result that brought together the comfort, materials and identity I had been searching for.

The hand-shaped backrest is made from 2 mm plate steel and finished with our characteristic patina. It is combined with solid burned ash and traditional wooden joinery, creating a chair designed to withstand everyday use.
